The Guild of St. Peter ad Vincula

Our blessed Lord taught that every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.  He was referring at the time to the kingdom of Satan.  Rumors were abounding that our Lord was casting out devils in the name of the devil, and so he pointed out quite logically that if this were the case, the devil’s kingdom would not be united and would fall.  Let’s stay with that concept for a moment…

If the devil’s kingdom were indeed divided, it would be a good thing.  Why?  Because, as our Lord says, it would thereby fall.  In today’s political arena we see the Democratic Party in disarray, fighting amongst themselves, and we rejoice.  We are rightfully happy to see this division, our hopes now reinforced that this political arm of Satan will indeed be brought to desolation.  They are the source of so much evil, so many immoral policies that offend God and make life miserable for the God-fearing citizens of this nation.  May they fall apart and dissolve back into the infernal ether from which they came!

There is, however, an important caveat that comes with our refreshed hope.  Is not our nation, our “United” States of America, now divided more than ever before?  Will our nation, divided against itself, fall victim to this same desolation we see in the Democratic Party?  To prevent this, we must do our part by praying and maintaining behavior in synch with the will of God.  We must remember that civil war, whether military or political, is a punishment by God for our sins.  And we must be courageous in taking sides—sitting on the fence is not an option when it’s a question of good versus evil.  Today’s political situation is not just politics—if it were, we would not be reflecting on it so often and profoundly.  It is our job to fight the good fight, that between God and the Devil, between the children of light and the children of darkness.  We know which side we need to be on, so let us take up arms and join the fight.  Unlike the Democrats who love to fight just for the sake of attacking God, his commandments and the natural law he created, we, on the other hand, fight to defend these, if necessary to the death.  We belong to God’s house, and that is a kingdom that can never be divided.  We’re either in it or we’re not.
