A Guild Mission is a house or chapel which is administered by the clergy of the Guild of St. Peter ad Vincula, but in which no religious community exists. The Mission Priest, or "Chaplain”, shall be responsible for the Mission’s administration in all matters ecclesiastical, temporal and financial, providing that no provisions already exist to the contrary (The Rule, 1.6.2).
At present, all Guild houses, chapels and Mass centers are what are known as "Missions", as per the definition supplied by the Rule above. The other type of house envisaged by the Rule is the "Priory", which is a house in which two or more priests or religious reside in community. As the Guild eventually expands, we hope to establish such communities, at which point their location and contact information will be provided on this website.
Meanwhile, our Missions are intended to supply for the spiritual and sacramental needs of the faithful who attend them. In return, these faithful are responsible for the financial upkeep and maintenance of the property, as well as for the support of the clergy who serve them. Each Mission is run independently, and may have its own corporation and bylaws, providing they are not in conflict with the Bylaws and Rule of the Guild. Provisions may be made privately between a Mission, its clergy and the Guild, by which greater autonomy is granted in conformity with the Guild Bylaws and Rule. Such provisions must be approved by the Board of Directors of the Guild of St. Peter ad Vincula.
